David Cornell

Session Title: Circular Economy: Are We Ready for the Consequences and Impossibilities?

Mr. Cornell is an experienced chemical and polymer technologist who conducts technical assessments, economic modeling, and feasibility studies and advises on technical issues of plastics recycling and environmental stewardship, including life cycle assessments.  He works with SBA-CCI, a PET consultancy and is the principal forDD Cornell Associates LLC, a plastics stewardship advisement consultancy.  He is a professional engineer in the State of Tennessee.

He has led significant commercialization projects and specialized in technical, economic, and stewardship issues of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) for Eastman Chemical Company, then the world’s largest producer of PET for packaging.  His experience ranges from basic research, through development, commercial production, market development and capital planning to issues management.  Mr. Cornell is well familiar with the technical and economic issues of post consumer plastics recycling including regulatory matters of food contact.  He was inducted into the Plastics Hall of Fame in 2018.
