As the industry drives forward in its quest to increase recycled content of PET packaging, color and aesthetics become compromised due to multiple heat exposures, impacting available volumes of bottle grade material and the industry’s ability to meet their targets. This presentation will introduce a technology currently under development that can significantly reduce yellowing of PET through recycling, thereby reducing the requirement for toning to result in rPET resins with increased brightness (higher L*) and the potential for a reduction in impurities.
