In response to the ongoing challenges facing the industry—ranging from environmental and economic concerns to ensuring quality—PFE is dedicated to addressing these issues, with a particular expertise in quality and circularity. As part of our commitment, we have launched a multi-phase study, fully funded by PFE, to evaluate PET contaminants and understand their impact on the recycling stream.
The project is structured into several phases:
• Phase 1: The first phase, which focuses on visible contaminants in the PET stream, will be shared for the first time at the upcoming TPC. This phase aims to provide initial insights into how such known PET visible contaminants affect the overall quality of the recycled material.
• Phases 2 and Beyond: As we move into later stages of the study, we invite open discussion and collaboration to enhance the development of these phases. Input from industry stakeholders will be essential to drive more intensive and impactful results.
By engaging in this study, PFE aims to contribute to a more sustainable and efficient recycling process, with a strong focus on minimizing contamination and maximizing circularity.
