Andrea Smith is a Global Product Manager for PET resin processing additives at Avient Corporation. She graduated in 1999 from Teesside University with a BSC (honors) in Chemistry and began her career as a Research Chemist in the Chemicals and Polymers division of ICI where she worked on product development, PET catalysis, and manufacturing processes of PET. She continued in this role for 15 years as the business was acquired by DuPont and then INVISTA. Andrea next worked as a Market Development Manager for Dorf Ketal, focused specifically on the implementation of antimony free catalysts in PET resins, giving her over 20 years of experience within the PET industry.

At Avient, Andrea has led product development projects through to product launch for novel PET additives designed to enhance and improve the recyclability of PET used in both beverage and food packaging applications. In this role she has frequently been involved with recycle organizations and has led associated working groups in both North America and Europe.
